Weather and Wind Conditions
Dakhla enjoys nearly year-round kitesurfing-friendly weather and wind conditions. Here’s what you can expect:
- Wind: The primary kitesurfing season in Dakhla typically runs from April to October. During this period, you can expect consistent and strong winds, predominantly from the northeast. The wind speed usually ranges from 15 to 30 knots, providing ideal conditions for both beginners and advanced riders.
- Temperature: Dakhla has a mild desert climate. Summers (June to September) are warm, with daytime temperatures ranging from 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F). Winters (December to February) are cooler, with temperatures around 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Water temperatures are generally pleasant year-round.
- Rainfall: Dakhla experiences very little rainfall, making it a reliable destination for kitesurfing.
Getting to Dakhla
Reaching Dakhla typically involves flying to the nearest airport and then traveling by land to the kitesurfing spots. Here’s how to get there:
- Flights: You can book a flight to Dakhla Airport (VIL), which has international connections. Alternatively, you can fly to Casablanca or Agadir and take a domestic flight to Dakhla.
- Ground Transportation: After landing in Dakhla, you can arrange for a taxi or shuttle service to take you to the kitesurfing spots and accommodations, which are often situated along the Dakhla Peninsula.
DO I NEED A VISA TO GO TO MOROCCO?
As a citizen of the European Union, you do not need a visa to enter Morocco. You can stay up to 3 months, just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
But if you are from other countries you might want to review if you need it or not directly with the embassy web.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF BEFORE ENTERING MOROCCO?
Your passport has to be valid more than 6 months and of course it should have free space for the stamps. At the airport you will be giving a document which you will need to fill out with relevant information as name, surname, passport number etc.
Most of the things are standard but you are obliged to enter the address where you will stay in Morocco.
