Is kitesurfing difficult to learn?
Kitesurfing can be challenging to learn at the beginning. Take also into consideration that every person learns different.
But with proper instruction from us, a positive mindset and practice, most people can learn in 3-5 days and become independent kitesurfers
When is the best moment to learn Kitesurf in Tarifa?
We have good news for you, as Tarifa is one of the most windy places in the world you can learn to kite almost any day of the year.
We have two different beaches to learn or to kite: Los Lances Norte and Valdevaqueros.
How do I learn kitesurfing?
Learning kitesurfing usually involves taking lessons from our certified instructor. It’s important to understand about the equipment, safety procedures, and techniques involved.
Lessons typically cover topics like kite control, launching and landing, body dragging, board skills, and water safety.

What kind of wind and water conditions are best for kitesurfing?
Kitesurfing requires a certain level of wind and wave conditions for optimal performance. Typically, riders look for consistent side shore wind speeds of 12-25 knots and relatively calm water.
Luckily in Tarifa we almost always have wind.

What equipment do I need for kitesurfing?
To kitesurf, you will need a few key pieces of equipment (which we will provide for you). These include
- Kite
- Bar with lines
- Harness
- Board
- Leash
- Helmet
- Life jacket
- Neoprene

Can I kitesurf anywhere?
Kitesurfing can be done in different waters, including lakes, rivers, and oceans. Here in Tarifa we have two beaches Los Lances Norte (in which we usually teach) and Valdevaqueros
However, riders are advised to check local regulations and restrictions before kitesurfing in a particular area.
If the wind conditions are too strong we usually teach and go to Palmones (Algeciras).
Where are you based, where do you teach?
We usally teach in Tarifa, in front of Chiringuito Agua (which is located in Los Lances Norte)
What should I bring to my kite lesson?
Important packing list
- Sun cream, min. SPF 30 – 50 and waterproof. We recommend zinc ones (physical instead of mineral) which stay longer and dont damage your skin and the ocean
- Beach towel and flip-flops
- Light clothing (jumper, trousers for the evening)
- A Sweater or light windproof jacket – As it its always windy in tarifa it can get chilly in the late afternoon/evening after kiting all day
Important to know for Gear Rental
If I already know how to kite, can I rent the equipment?
We offer kitesurf rentals, of course.
Flysurfer, a well-established innovative kitesurfing brand with a history of more than 20 years is offered to you.
You can choose between a wide selections of boards and kites.
What equipment is included in a kite rental?
Full Kite rental packages typically include kite, board, wetsuit or neoprene, harness and pump.
You can also rent from us safety gear such as a helmet and impact vest.
How do I know what size kite and board to rent?
The size of the kite and board needed for kiteboarding can vary depending on factors such as the rider’s weight and the wind conditions.
We have professional instructors to help you select the appropriate equipment based on your experience and the current conditions.
This can all be sorted once you arrive.
If Im not sure about my kiting level what can I do to rent a kite?
First of all, you should have an IKO or similar license which ensures your indepency and permits you internationally to rent gear.
In case you do not obtain as such, we are happy to look at your level. In case you are safe to ride and indepenent you can rent.
We also recommend you our supervision program. Ask us!
Important to know of Yoga
I went to a beginner Yoga class but it felt too advanced. Does that mean I can’t do Yoga?
You can do yoga! There are many classes labeled “for beginners” that aren’t for true beginners.
Ask us about beginners yoga or consider signing up for a few private classes to help get your practice started.
Where do you teach yoga?
We usually teach either in a studio or at the beach, depending on the weather, time of the year, group or requirements

Yes!! All of our teachers are certified instructors with experience.
What style of yoga do you usually teach?
Our most frequent yoga lesson style is Hatha Vinyasa, but can vary according to your needs.

What can I expect from surfing lessons?
Surfing lessons generally begin with a briefing on safety, equipment, and basic surfing principles on land.
Our instructors will then guide you into the water and provide hands-on coaching as you practice paddling, catching waves, and standing up on the board.
Lessons may be conducted one-on-one or in small groups.
What equipment do I need for surfing lessons with you?
We will provide the necessary equipment for lessons, including surfboards, wetsuits (if needed), and leashes.
It’s always a good idea to bring a towel, sunscreen, and a bottle of water. If you have your own gear, you can ask us if it’s suitable for learning in our beaches or if we recommend our their equipment.
Can anyone take surfing lessons with you?
Our surfing lessons are typically open to people of various ages and skill levels. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to improve your existing skills, we cater to different levels and tailor the lessons accordingly.
It’s advisable to check with us beforehand if you have specific age or skill requirements.
Can I take private surfing lessons?
Yes, we offer private surfing lessons for individuals or small groups.
Private lessons will provide you personalized attention and instruction from us, allowing for more focused learning and tailored feedback.
Can I surf all year long in Tarifa?
Sadly no.
Usually the season for waves in Tarifa is in winter time, from October/November until March/April
But you can always contact us to know how is the forecast, as it may vary.

Is wing foiling a popular sport?
Wing foiling is a relatively new sport, but it has gained popularity in recent years due to its accessibility and the ease of learning compared to other water sports.
What equipment do I need for wing foiling?
The basic equipment for wing foiling includes a foilboard, a handheld wing, and a foil. Riders may also need a wetsuit or other protective clothing depending on the water and weather conditions.
Can I rent wing foiling equipment?
We offer wing foiling equipment rentals, including foilboards and wings.
Important to know for Tarifa Kite Camps
How can I arrive at the camp in Tarifa?
Our recommendation is bring a car or rent a car so you can have a good mobility to go to the beach. There is also possibility to take a bus or a Bla Bla car to Tarifa.
Many different airlines fly from all over Europe to Jerez, Malaga, Gibraltar and Seville. Malaga (AGP) is the nearest city and the closest is Jerez (XRY).
Airport transfer
No transfer included – best option: hire car
Nearby airports:
- Malaga AGP (151km – 1.40hrs).
- Jerez XRY (130km – 1,30h)
- Gibraltar GIB (44km – 46 min)
- Granada GRX (267km – 2,40h)
In Tarifa itself, we offer the possibility of taking you to the kiting place.

If I already know how to kite, can I participate?
What happens when there is no wind?
The happiness and enjoyment of our clients, its our upmost aim. So you dont have to worry we always have different things prepared, such as:
- Theory kite lessons in the sand
- Wakeboarding
- Hiking
- Local Tourism
- Surfing
Also you can reserve to do Yoga by the beach or in studio, go whale watching, visit Gibraltar or Tangier for the day and much more.
How much money do I need to budget per day?
There are many good restaurants and bars around Tarifa, so it really depends on whether you prefer to cook for yourself or go out for lunch and dinner every day. We recommend around 30-40€ per day.

WIND SPEED/KITE SIZES
Anything from 0 to 40+ knots, with east wind direction, called Levante, youget around 20 to 40+ knots; with west wind direction, called Poniente, you can get lighter winds with around 10 to 25 knots.
Therefore range from 8m to 14m kites is cool!
BEST TIME TO COME TO TARIFA?
Despite the best wind usually being from April to October, we get wind all year.
It is the Capital of wind of Europe at the end of the day! But sure it isalways more enjoyable to have a bit of warmth, and therefore the high season is from mid June to mid September. It gets pretty crowded as youcan imagine!
We are lucky enough to be able to kite all year around, andeven on those (not so often) non windy days, we take out the best out of it!

What are the best beaches in Tarifa?
Some of the best beaches in Tarifa include Playa de Los Lances, Valdevaqueros and Punta Paloma. These beaches are known for their clear waters, soft sand, and excellent conditions for water sports.
WATER CONDITIONS: flat, choppy, waves
You see…Everything is possible in Tarifa. The water condition really depends on the day and the spot.
WATER TEMPERATURE in tarifa: DO I NEED A WETSUIT?
In spring, autumn and winter you definitely need a long wetsuit (4/3).
During summer you will be fine with a thin one 3/2), a shorty or even no wetsuit at all.
That will depend on how many hours you want to spend in thewater.
IS TARIFA BEGINNER FRIENDLY?
Tarifa is challenging on some days and others it can be just perfect for any level and experience. It is not an idillic beginner spot but if you learn kiting here, you will be able to kite anywhere! No conditions will resist you 😉
What activities can I do in Tarifa besides water sports?
In addition to water sports, visitors of Tarifa can enjoy hiking, cycling, and horse riding in the surrounding natural areas.
The town also has a rich history and culture, with historic sites like the castle.
Is Tarifa a family-friendly destination?
Yes, Tarifa can be a great destination for families. There are plenty of activities for kids to enjoy, such as nature walks, and wildlife watching.
The town also has many family-friendly restaurants and accommodations.
Which airport to get to Tarifa
Tarifa has a general good connection.
There are different airports which are great to fly to.
- Malaga – 160km from Tarifa. Is the most frequent and biggest airport in the area. Very good and economic rental car options too and if you prefer the bus, also the connection is good.
- Gibraltar – 40km from Tarifa. Just a few airlines from UK are flying to Gibraltar but its very close to Tarifa which makes it a good arrival destination too. Rental cars are rare but the bus connection from La Linea to Tarifa is ok
- Jerez de la frontera – 110km from Tarifa. A quiet small airport were several low cost airlines are flying too. So if you dont like the hassle of big airports, that could be your choice. Rental cars are quiet ok and economic too and there is also a bus connection.
- Sevilla – 160km from Tarifa. Ok airport with some good connections from Europe. My recommendation, stay a day/night there, its a big andalusian city and you can get into your vacation flair already over there.
Is there a way to transport myself without a car?
Recorrido bus is the official public bus which goes around in Tarifa town and outside to the beach since june 2023.
What are the entry and visa requirements for Spain?
All EU citizens can enter with a passport or a valid identity card.
Flights to Tarifa
You can reach Tarifa with low cost airlines such as RyanAir, Iberia, AirBerlin, Norwegian and EasyJet.

FOR TARIFA IN GENERAL
Pack warmer clothes for evenings as nights can be chilly!
Also a lot of people do not know this but it is very useful to have a rental car here. All the beaches and their amazing beach bars are our of town, on the beaches, and some are more than 17 km away!
Also to enjoy all the amazing nature and natural parks that surround our amazing little town, you will be very happy to be able to go and discover those amazing spots.
Also the coast between Tarifa and Cadiz is breathtaking and worth the detour, and its only a bit more than 100 km between the two towns.

Do I need a Visa to go to morocco?
What do I have to take care of before entering Morocco?
Your passport has to be valid more than 6 months and of course it should have free space for the stamps. At the airport you will be giving a document which you will need to fill out with relevant information as name, surname, passport number etc.
Most of the things are standard but you are obliged to enter the address where you will stay in Morocco.
